Reflections on Psychophysical Actor Training

I’ve written a short reflection of my ongoing psychophysical training experience and practice for the Theatre, Dance and Performance Training Blog.

It can be accessed via this link: http://theatredanceperformancetraining.org/2020/06/reflections-on-psychophysical-actor-training/

The psychophysical training I practice was created, shared and taught by Phillip Zarrilli, with whom I trained at the University of Exeter in 2010-2011. I have continued to undertake the training since then and the fundamental principles of the training underpin much of my critical thinking and theatre practice.

I hope it offers a helpful insight into the experience of undertaking such training, including the necessary adaptations that are made over time in response to developing self-awareness, as well as the need to overcome practical obstacles around time and space.
